Training & Workshop: Building Bridges Through Research: Collaboration Between BLNS and Vejthani Hospital Elevates Nursing Practice
In a significant stride toward advancing nursing research and practice, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanyaphat Setchoduk and Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriporn Poonruksa of the Bernadette de Lourdes School of Nursing Science (BLNS), Assumption University of Thailand (AU) served as guest speakers at an in-service training organized by Vejthani Hospital on November 18-19, 2024. The training, approved by the Center for Continuing Nursing Education under the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council, was a milestone in building research capacity among professional nurses.
The event, held at the Sai-Yud Convention Hall on the hospital’s 8th floor, drew 60 professional nurses eager to enhance their skills in integrating research into routine nursing practices. The initiative was spearheaded by Ms. Pranom Tiyao, Vejthani’s Inpatient Director of Nursing, who recognized the need for innovation in solving clinical challenges.
Day One: Bridging Routine and Research
The program commenced on November 18 with a morning session by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanyaphat Setchoduk, who delivered a comprehensive lecture on Routine to Research (R2R). Her presentation underscored how research principles can transform everyday nursing challenges into evidence-based solutions.
In the afternoon, Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriporn Poonruksa engaged participants with an insightful session on “Ethical Considerations in Nursing Research.” Her discussion emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and ethical standards throughout the research process.
Day Two: From Theory to Practice
On November 19, the focus shifted to hands-on learning. Participants collaborated in workshops to develop R2R projects addressing real-world challenges in their clinical settings. Guided by Dr. Poonruksa and Ms. Tiyao, the nurses critically analyzed and refined their ideas, resulting in the creation of seven promising R2R projects. These projects, born from the nurses’ direct experiences, represent the first step in fostering a culture of research-driven problem-solving at Vejthani Hospital.
Strengthening the Research Network
The collaboration between BLNS and Vejthani Hospital highlights the transformative potential of academic-practice partnerships. By bridging routine nursing practices and research, this initiative not only equips nurses with innovative tools but also strengthens ties between two leading institutions committed to excellence in healthcare.
With these successful outcomes, the partnership is set to inspire ongoing research initiatives that enhance professional nursing practice and improve patient outcomes across Thailand.
