AU Nursing Seminar on “The Growth of Digital Health amidst and post COVID-19 Pandemic: Where Do We Go from Here?”
The senior nursing students, Faculty of Nursing Science, Assumption University organized the virtual international seminar entitled “The Growth of Digital Health amidst and post COVID-19 Pandemic: Where Do We Go from Here?” on September 26, 2021. The seminar aimed to update the importance and trends of the digital health in the context of healthcare and to raise awareness on the healthcare disruption and the roles that the digital health plays. There were approximately 241 participants registered for the seminar from many different countries such as USA, Bhutan, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Timor-Leste, China, India, Philippines, Vietnam, Lao PDR, and Myanmar.
Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President - Rector Magnificus, Assumption University, Dr. Vindhai Cocracul, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Assumption University, Dr. Pimsiri Bhusiri, Dean of Faculty of Nursing Science, Assumption University, and Dr. Phat Prapawichar, Associate Dean of Faculty of Nursing Science, Assumption University participated in this virtual seminar. AU President - Rector Magnificus was invited to preside over the opening session and to mark the welcoming speech.
The seminar brought over the five extensive experienced guest speakers to share their insights, wisdoms, and experiences in three informative sessions. The first session was on “Emerging Trends and Opportunities in Digital Health and Care,” which was addressed by our honorable speaker, Prof. Dr. Sirimon Reutrakul, M.D., CDE. She is currently a Professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, University of Illinois at Chicago.
The second session was on “Digital Health Transformation and Its Challenges: Today and The Future.” We were honored to have Dr. Tany Thaniyavarn, a medical instructor at Harvard Medical School and an expert in lung transplantation and pulmonary-critical care medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, USA, to share his expertise and insights on the topic.
The last session was a panel discussion on “The use of digital health amidst COVID-19 pandemic: experiences and perspectives from nurses,” sharing by the three panelists including 1) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pinthusorn Pattayakorn, a nursing educator in the Department of Nursing, College of Natural Science, California State University San Bernardino in the U.S.A and a registered nurse in the neurological care unit, 2) Asst. Prof. Dr. Li-Chiu Lin, from Hunkung University College of Nursing, Taiwan (R.O.C), and 3) Ms. Kanokon Tangprasarttsuk, a registered nurse and health risk management specialist at Sunday Care CO., Ltd.
The seminar was conducted as part of NS4322 Professional Socialization II, supervised by Dr. Phat Prapawichar, Dr. Onouma Thummapol, A. Suttinee Chareansri, and A. Napaswan Namboonsri.
